1st Grade - 3rd Quarter Objectives 2009/10

Upcoming Event:

March is Dr. Seuss month in our first grades. The students will be working to earn a Dr. Seuss party on April 4th. The students will earn a SeussBill (play money) for each book that they read. The play money will be used to purchase snacks and drinks at our party. Please read books by Dr. Seuss or Theo LeSieg (Theo is Dr. Seuss) only.

Language Arts

• Identify long vowel words with silent e
• Continue to identify high-frequency words
• Continue to build comprehension skills, especially cause and effect and making inferences
• Continue to develop oral fluency
• Use inflectional endings
• Use past and present verb tenses
• Continue to develop writing skills

Math

• Model, identify, write, compare, and order numbers to 100
• Skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s
• Analyze and solve problems using skills and strategies
• Relate addition and subtraction; identify fact families to 12
• Identify and write names for numbers to twelve
