2nd Grade - 3rd Quarter Objectives 2009/10

Dear Parents,

With the distribution of the second report card, the first semester ends. We now begin the second semester with great expectations. It promises to be exciting as well as challenging.
During the month of February, our second graders will celebrate Black History Month. Various black historians will be identified and discussed. Students’ Black History projects will be displayed in the hallway. Thank you for all of your hard work.
A gentle reminder concerning a few items…supplies are low.  Many students are without crayons, glue, scissors, and good pencils.  Please check with your child.  Also, continue to monitor daily homework assignments. Children should be reading and practicing math facts nightly.
Below is a list of math and reading objectives for the third quarter and a list of math web sites. The third quarter is the most challenging in math. We cover some difficult concepts such as regrouping, money, and telling time. These concepts are even more difficult if the children have not mastered their basic addition and subtraction facts to 18.  Please practice at home as much as possible. You may want to try some of the math web sites or use flash cards.
Finally, thank you for all you do. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Mrs. S. Ahrendt
Mrs. B. Stankus
Mrs. J. Holmes
