Sutherland PTA "2010 Parent's Night Out"

We Need Your Help!
The Parents’ Night Out/ Spring Fundraiser is coming up on April 10th at Cork & Kerry from 7-11pm

Raffle Basket Donations
* We are still taking $5.00 donations to help purchase items for the raffle baskets.
* Students may still bring the money to school in an envelope marked with their name and room number, and the words “Raffle Basket Donation.”
Silent Auction Donations
We are currently in the planning stages for our silent auction. Do you have:                        
* a service to offer
* tickets to athletic events
* gift certificates
* connections with a business or corporation
* special items of interest?
If you have any silent auction items to offer, please call Laurie DelFavero (773-239-6187) or Kristen Dimas (773-354-1968).

Grand Prize Raffle Tickets
We are sending home tickets for our Grand Prize Raffle.
* The tickets are $25.00 each or 3 for $60.
* We are sending home 3 tickets with each student. We ask that you try to sell them or purchase them.
* Send tickets and payment to school in an envelope with your child marked “Grand Prize Raffle.”
Checks can be made out Sutherland PTA.
* Winners of the raffle will be drawn at the event. The winner does not need to be present and will be called at the number listed on the ticket.
* The descriptions of the raffle prizes are listed below.

1st Prize – 32” Flat Panel High Definition TV
2nd Prize – Playstaion 3 Game System (Also Blue Ray Disc Player)
3rd Prize – Kodak Zi8 Palm Size High Definition Video Camera

Parents’ Night Out Donation Request

* This year, we are trying something different. We are starting to purchase items for the baskets to be raffled off at our fundraiser. In order to take advantage of all the great Christmas sales, we are asking for our raffle basket donations before the holidays.

* We are asking each student, if they are able, to bring in a $5.00 donation in an envelope labeled with their name, their room number, and the words “Raffle Basket Donation” by December 18th.

* We realize this may be a lot to ask at this time of year, but this is an important event. Please read below for information regarding this event and how it benefits the students of Sutherland School.

What is Parents’ Night Out?

For families new to Sutherland, Parents’ Night Out is an annual PTA event that raises money for our school. It is also a wonderful chance for Sutherland parents to get out to meet new people and to spend time with other parents of students from the school.

When and where is it held?

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, April 10th  in the side party rooms at Cork & Kerry on Western Ave.  It is a great set of private rooms that did a wonderful job accommodating our event last year.

What are some of the highlights of the event?

The event features a grand prize raffle, large raffle baskets, silent auction items, and dollar raffle items. We have a D.J., a light meal and appetizers, and an open bar.

What is done with the money that is raised at the event?

The focus for this year’s event is to raise money for improvements to the school building and grounds that are not covered by funds from CPS.

In past years, the money raised from this event helped the PTA fund the following projects: new lighting and seating for the auditorium, library carts for our school librarian, art carts for our art teacher, supplemental funds for The Louvre Museum event, helping to pay for the in-school field trips for the whole school and a marionette program for the primary grades, and providing the teachers with extra funds to purchase additional enriching materials for their classrooms.

Sutherland is a wonderful school that brings out the best in all of our children. Our PTA is a big factor in helping to provide a well-rounded, excellent education for our students that goes above and beyond what is provided in many other elementary schools. Each and every one of our students benefits from the money that is raised from this event.  Please support us in this endeavor.
