LSC Minutes - 4/8/08

Sutherland Elementary Local School Council
Meeting Minutes
April 8, 2008
Sutherland Auditorium

  1. The meeting began at 4:00 p.m.
  2. Roll was taken; present members were:  Ron Traylor, Bill Cahill, Susan Poole,  Donna Somerville, Charlie Zarzecki, Catherine Gannon, and Melizza Ciezki.
  3. Minutes from the February meeting will be presented by Charlie Zarzecki at the May meeting. Minutes from the March meeting were read and approved with the exception of the start time for the Candidate Forum.  It should be 5:30 rather than 5:00.
  4. Principal’s Report- Ms. Gannon distributed a report. 
    1. The SIPAAA team presented the budget on April 1st.
    2. Individual meetings with teachers will occur at the end of the quarter/promotion criteria and summer school will be addressed.
    3. Teachers are continuing to work on curriculum alignment projects, differentiated instruction and leveled reading/best practices in literacy.
    4. The PAWS carnival dates are June 5th and June 11th.
    5. The IB program continues to work on the Global Issues curriculum project.
    6. Work on the Verizon cell tower is almost complete.
    7. The mobile cart has been delivered and set-up.
    8. Three new sets of doors have been installed.

  2. Delegate Reports

    1. PPLC (Curriculum)-nothing to report
    2. PTA- the new board was approved, Parents Night Out is April 26th.
    3. Building and Grounds-Spring Cleanup is April 19th.
    4. School Climate- New guidelines should be in place in May.
  1. New Business-The SIPAAA was voted on and approved with 7 Approvals, 3 Absent, and 1 Vacancy.
  2. Old Business-None
  3. Executive Session- moved to Executive Session at 4:40 to discuss SIPAA line items.
  4. Public Comment-none
  5. Next LSC meeting is May 13, 2008 at 4:00 p.m.
  6. The meeting was adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
