LSC Minutes - 11/03/09

Sutherland Local School Council
Meeting Minutes
November 3th 2009

  1. Meeting began at 4:10 p. m.
  2. Role was taken. Members present were: Mike Barnum, Melissa Boyd, Catherine Gannon, Cheryl Kite, Meg O’Sullivan, Ron Traylor, Donna Sommerville, Charlie Zarzecki.   Absent: Kathy Bennett, Bill Cahill, Julie Moran.
  3. Principal’s Report
      1. SIPAAA Amendment ( Rollover Funds )
      2. Student Data meetings will be scheduled later in the month when benchmark scores are receieved.
      3. Tech update – Staff received demonstrations of the on-line program Study Island and Raz – Kids.
      4. Cultural Enrichment – Student’s saw October performance of Renoir and November performance of  the Evolution of Ballet is scheduled.
      5. Professional Development on Nov 6th 2009. Teachers will be working on student data
      6. LSC members received copies of Cell Tower expenditures.
      7. Report Card pick-up is scheduled for Wednesday November 18th 2009.
      8. Residency – Far fewer cases from previous years.
      9. We will continue to monitor enrollment which was around 750.
      10. There were no H1N1 cases reported.

  2. Public Comment
      1. Alice Collins from the Beverly Association Planning Association introduced herself. The association focus is on health and safety
      2. Sharon Ryan IB Coordinator gave updates
      3. Concerned parent about safety
      4. It was suggested that the school implement the use of ID’s
      5.  
  1. PPLC – Continues to work on recommendations for prioritizing textbooks.
  2. PTA –  no report
  3. Building and Grounds – Discussed having trees trimmed and leaves cleaned up.
  4.  School Climate – Successful Mother-Son Dance
  5. New Business – no new business
  6. Old Business
      1. Enrollment – Covered in Principal’s report.
