LSC Minutes - 12/01/09

  1. Meeting began at 4:05 p. m.
  2. Role was taken. Members present were: Mike Barnum, Melissa Boyd, Catherine Gannon, Cheryl Kite, Meg O’Sullivan, Ron Traylor, Donna Somerville, Charlie Zarzecki, Kathy Bennett, Bill Cahill, and Julie Moran. Absent: None.
  3. Minutes of November 3, 2009 were read and approved unanimously.
  4. Principal’s Report
    1. New events this past November
    2. SIPAAA Amendment ( Rollover Funds ) actual budget and transactions from rollover funds transfer were presented to LSC
    3. Motion was made to approve amendment funds as actual
    4. LSC unanimously approved actual transfer of funds for amendment
    5. Student Data meetings are occurring to review benchmark scores
    6. LSC election materials have arrived and are available
    7. IB Update information presented by Mrs. Ryan
    8. Snapshot visit for LRE very good results
    9. Tech update – Usage on Study Island increase. On Dec 4th staff will participate in demonstrations of the on-line reports available
    10. Cultural Enrichment Program continues to be successful
    11. Professional Development on Dec 4th teachers will work on technology, student data, school-based problem solving and curriculum alignment. Setting up performance management after-school data meetings for remainder of the year.
    12. LSC members received copies of Cell Tower expenditures in November. New expenditures include xerox contract
    13. Progress reports will go home on December 16th. Benchmark test reports will go home as well.
    14. Residency – Far fewer cases from previous years.
    15. We will continue to monitor enrollment which is below 750.
    16. December newsletter has been posted.
    17. There were no H1N1 cases reported.
  5. Delegate Reports
    1. PPLC – Continues to work on recommendations for prioritizing textbooks.
    2. PTA –  Holiday gift shop is currently underway, junior high socials mentioned for January
    3. Building and Grounds – Applied for Lowes grant and PTA interested in donating proceeds from Parent’s Night Out for paver and flagpole project
    4. School Climate – Trophy Case been cleaned and trophies rotated and updated
  6. Public Comment
    1. Questions about selective enrollment and options for knowledge applications and selection of students post consent decree
    2. Student ID cards question
    3. Valerie Watkins-Prendergast, LSC liaison from CPS, introduced herself and was invited to sit in with LSC members in Executive Session.
  7. New Business – no new business
  8. Old Business
    1. Enrollment – Covered in Principal’s report.
    2. LSC –Focus Alumni –possible planning of Golf Outing
  9. Moved to Executive Session at 4:35 p.m. Two members left during executive session. Charlie Zarzecki @ 5:00 and Meg O'Sullivan @ 4:35 had to leave, Valerie Watkins Prendergast was present.
  10. Returned from Executive Session 5:20
  11. Principal Evaluation/Contract Vote, 8 members present all voted, 8-yes, 2-absent.
  12. Public Comment: none
  13. Next meeting to be on January 5, 2010.
