LSC Minutes - 2/02/10

  1. Meeting began at 4:05 p. m.
  2. Role was taken. Members present were: Mike Barnum, Kathy Bennett , Melissa Boyd ,Bill Cahill, Catherine Gannon, Cheryl Kite, Julie Moran, Meg O’Sullivan, Ron Traylor, Donna Somerville, Charlie Zarzecki .
    Absent: None
  3. Minutes of January 5th 2010 were read and approved unanimously.
  4. Principal’s Report
    1. Individual meetings to discuss student data results from winter benchmarks will occur. 
    2. LSC election timeline will be made.
    3. SIPAAA core team meeting will meet February 16th, 2010.
    4. IB Update: 36 MYP/IB students applied to Morgan Park High School, 21 of those students applied to the IB diploma program.   There will be an IB evaluation visit in October 2010.
    5. Tech update: Study Island and RAZ Kids usage has gone up considerably.
    6. Cultural Enrichment – Scheduled March performances will be: The Midway Ramblers Cajun Band, a puppet show for Kdg to third grade, and an Irish music and dance performance.
    7. Professional Development – After school data meetings for ISAT Writing will be scheduled and in-house workshops will occur on PD day.
    8. Cell Tower – LSC members received copies of cell phone expenditures in their January folders. Funds have been transferred to cover items lost when we had to amend the SIPAAA.
    9. Report Cards will go home on February 3rd 2010.
    10. Residency – far fewer cases than previous years.
    11. Enrollment – Below 750 and will continue to be monitored.
    12. Library matching grant received (3,000)
  5. Delegate Reports
    1. PPLC – Social Studies textbooks have been chosen and ordered.
    2. PTA – Upcoming Book Fair/ looking for new PTA Board members.
    3. Buildings and Grounds – Fundraiser will be done to supplement grant received.
    4. School Climate – Sports Committee met to look at the revision of guidelines.
  6. New Business
    1. LSC candidate forum scheduled for Thursday March 25th at 6p.
  7. Executive Session - None

  9. Next LSC meeting scheduled for March 2, 2010 at 4 p.m.
