PTA Minutes 1/08/08

Sutherland PTA
January 8, 2008 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order at 9:00 a.m. Motion to approve Minutes from December meeting  moved, seconded, and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
Profits from Book Fair and Gourmet Mixes fundraisers totaled over $1500. No enhancement disbursements. Motion to approve Treasurer’s Report moved, seconded, and approved.

Principal’s Report:
Kindergarten registration: 60 students registered for 50 spots.
Report cards will be distributed on January 30th.
The PAWS December events were great!
There will be a cookie dough fundraiser in January. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of new library books.
The School Newsletter is now paperless – check it out on the website.
Milk delivery should improve as the estimated number of daily orders will now be rounded up.               

Local School Council Report:
LSC Board elections will be held in April. Interested parties should pick up application forms at the school office.

Officers’ Report:
Several teachers sent thank you notes to the PTA for the Holiday gift of Bulldogs T-shirts.
A membership drive is ongoing. Please urge parents to join – the PTA performs functions vital to our children’s school experience.

Committee Reports:
School Directory: Directories will be available by end of the month.
Library: The committee members met with their counterparts at Kellogg School, and toured the new library/media center at Kellogg.They were most impressed.

New Business
The PTA is seeking parents interested in forming a Support Group for Children with Special Needs.

The PTA Nominating Committee was formed.  Members will select nominees for President, 1st Vice President, Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years.  Elections will be held in April.
