February 5, 2008 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order at 7:00p.m. Motion to approve Minutes from January meeting moved, seconded, and approved.

Guest Speaker:
Mrs. Clark gave an informative presentation on best homework skills. She also discussed strategies for improving your child’s reading skills and reviewed an extended response question typically found in a standardized test.
 
Treasurer’s Report:
The January expenditure for classroom enhancements was $1,690.00, which funded the purchase of an Ellison die cut machine and parts. All teachers will be able to utilize this machine. Motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report moved, seconded, and approved.

Principal’s Report:

  • Mr. Conway visited the school and was pleased to be presented with a plaque.
  • The Principal’s February Newsletter is on-line.
  • A PAWS mid-February reward event will be planned.
  • LSC candidates should call the office before picking up the application.  
  • Coaches are needed for boys volleyball teams.
  • Spring drama club will begin after Spring Break.

Committee Reports:
School Directory: The Directory is being printed.
Father/Daughter Dance: New date is 4-5-08
Book Fair: May 15th from 4-8. PTA needs volunteers.
Parent’s Night Out: Planning underway. Please attend and bring your neighbors and family.
Nominating: A slate of officers for the 08-09 school year is almost assembled.
Library: 2 carts will be purchased along with books.  Next step is to develop a tracking process.

LSC:
A school grounds spring cleaning will be scheduled.  The MYIB students and any volunteers will facilitate.

New Business
Athletic Board: An Athletic Board will be formed to oversee school sports.
Parent Education: The PTA will host a High School Guidance Counselor Night on April 22nd. Topics will include preparing children academically and socially for high school.

Motion to adjourn meeting at 8:15 p.m.
