PTA Minutes 3/04/08

March 4, 2008 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order at 9:00 a.m.  Motion to approve Minutes from February meeting  moved, seconded, and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
The Directory cost $1,226, which was $500 under budget.  February enhancement disbursements totaled $500, consisting of board games for the 6th and 7th Grade and protractors for the 7th Grade.

Principal’s Report:
The School Newsletter is now paperless – check it out on the website.
The cookie dough fundraiser was a success!  No numbers yet.

Local School Council Report:

The preliminary School budget will be made public shortly.
School survey reports are being processed.
A Kindergarten open house will be held in May.
Building and Grounds will host a Spring clean-up on April 19th.

Officers’ Report:

Several teachers sent thank you notes for the Ellison machine and the various board games.

Committee Reports:

Library:  The committee will order 2 book carts for grades k-2 and 3/5.   The carts will be on display at the May book fair. The CPS will provide matchings funds for book purchases.  Committee is pursuing a $2000 grant for literacy programs from Starbucks.
Book Fair:  The committee is considering a plan to urge parents to donate a book to their child’s classrooms or other donation programs.
Website:  4 local business sponsors will be allowed to advertise on the website in order to help defray maintenance costs.
Nominating:  The 2008/09 slate is almost final.  There is still time to self-nominate.  (There were no new nominees from the floor.)
Father/Daughter:  Planning is going well. 
Parents Night Out: Raffle tickets will go home with students soon.  Invitations will go home after Spring Break.

Motion to adjourn meeting at 10:00 a.m. moved, seconded, and approved.
