PTA Minutes 4/01/08

Sutherland PTA
April 1, 2008 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order at 7:00p.m. Motion to approve Minutes from March meeting moved, seconded, and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
Nearly $2,000.00 remains for classroom enhancements. The 3rd Grade received folding chairs, area rug and a scale in March and more requests will be processed next month. 

Principal’s Report:
We need volunteers to help at the PAWS Carnival June 5 and 6 – especially for heavy lifting.  Kids look forward to this event all year!

Kirk Shepard photography will take portraits 4/22 and 4/23.                                              

Committee Reports:

Book Fair: May 13th is the date for the buy one, get one free book fair.  Volunteers are always needed. Contact Lynette Rhymes.
Nominating: The 2008/09 PTA Board slate is approved.
Father/Daughter: Please bring appetizers, not desserts (they’re covered).

Guest Speakers:

Mary Galvin, of Woodbury Financial Services, spoke on the importance of financial planning. 

Standard Bank presented its school fundraising program, offering parents and Sutherland School a chance earn $75 for establishing a checking account at the bank.

Beverly Ridge Lions Club thanked the PTA for its continuing support.

Motion to adjourn meeting at 8 p.m. moved, seconded, and approved.
