PTA Minutes September 14, 2019

September 14, 2010

Meeting called to order at 7:10pm

Introductions

Members of the PTA took some time to introduce themselves and briefly discuss their respective job descriptions.

Treasurer’s Report

Jennifer Walton presented the budget for the 2010/2011 school year.
Budget was passed.

Corresponding Secretaries’ Report

Lucy Gaillard and Kitty Carol will be working with the teachers to insure that classroom enhancement request forms are properly processed.

They are currently working on completing the parent volunteer lists which will be distributed  to teachers and to committee chairpersons.

Recording Secretaries’ Report

Mr. Henderson requested $463.64   for new equipment for the gym. His request has been approved.

Mr. Kennedy requested $60 to replace the plexi  glass on the front sign. His request has been approved.

Principal’s Report

Sutherland School  will  no longer be using the benchmark tests. The NWEA map tests will be administered via computer beginning on the following week.

Fourth grade parents will now have access to the Parent Portal. Passwords will be distributed to parents at the Curriculum Night.

ISAT scores will also be given to parents at the Curriculum Night.

Parents must return Emergency forms to the school

October 29th evaluation

The cultural Enrichment program is continuing this year.

Peace Pole dedication will be held on September 21st at 9:30am.

Teacher’s Report

Mrs. Civik was unable to attend tonight’s meeting  so there was no teachers’ report.

The Back to School Night was a great success.

Committee Report

Spirit Wear Fundraiser

The forms for ordering Spirit Wear can be found online or in the welcome packet sent home with students.
There will be a table at I Madonnari displaying spirit wear samples.

I Madonnari

Event will be held on Saturday Sept. from 11am to 4pm.
Pre sale squares cost $8. Squares will cost $10 on day of event.

Innisbrook Fundraiser

This is the second largest fundraiser of the year.
The school receives %50 of all the profits generated from this fundraiser.
Catalogues will be sent home with the students next week.

Father/Daughter Dance

The dance will be held on October 23, 2010.
The committee is still looking for volunteers.
There will be a Halloween theme for this year’s dance.
The committee is looking for a kid-friendly DJ.
Invitations will be sent home with the students in 2-3 weeks. The committee is looking for help with the invitations.

Beverly Wine and Cheese Fundraiser

This event (formally known as Parents’ Night Out) is the #1 fundraiser of the school year.
The event will be held on November 6, 2010 at 7pm at The Beverly Arts Center.
Town Liquors will be bringing wines to sample and buy. Great American Cheese will be bringing various cheeses to sample and buy. Pat Murphy will also be bringing his chocolates to sample and buy.
There will be a silent auction, raffle baskets and a $1 raffle.
The Smiley Tillman Band will be performing.
There will be a cash bar.
Pre-sale tickets are $20 per person. Tickets purchased at the door will be $25 per person.
Tickets will be on sale at Town Liquors, I Maddonari and The Beverly Arts Center.
The committee is looking for donations for the raffle baskets and the silent auction.
They are asking that each student donate $5 to go towards the raffle baskets.

Sutherland Foundation

The foundation has been created to secure grant money for the school.
They are a tax exempt foundation.
The sale of the pavers will continue throughout the school year.

Family Mentor Program

This pilot program with match new Sutherland families with a mentor family who have children in the same grade.
Mentor families will provide the new families with information about Sutherland events and activities.
The program is looking for more mentor families to get involved.
The program will run through the fall.

New Business

A science related event is being considered for the school year.  It will not be a science fair instead it will be an opportunity for students to experience various fields of science. The PTA is looking for suggestions for this event.

Reminders

The PTA urges parents to read and fill out the papers in the Welcome Packet that was sent home with students.
-Information for the Sutherland Directory is needed. Family information can be submitted online on the Sutherland website.

Raffle

Carol Glaubitz hosted a raffle. Several people won prizes from the Innisbrook catalogue.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:05pm.
