PTA Minutes December 14, 2010

Meeting called to order at 9:15am.
A motion to approve November's minutes was moved, seconded and approved.

Treasurer's report

Jennifer Walden was unable to attend. Terese Clearly spoke on her behalf. All recent fundraisers (Book fair, Beverly Wine and Cheese, Holiday Gift Shop and Pampered Chef) have been great successes.

Corresponding Secretaries

Pam Civik send the PTA a thank you note on behalf of the teachers thanking them for a very successful book fair.

Principal's Report

-The school has many Christmas activities coming up before the break.
-There are many volunteers lined up for the Winter Carnival.
-There are no Rosetta Stone orders as of yet. We need 25 accounts in order to receive a discount. The offer on the school's website will be extended and a form will be sent out with the next newsletter.
- Map testing will resume after the holiday break.
-Please reming students to visit Study Island and Raz Kids while they are home during the break. The students are encouraged to review their skills because the I sats will be coming up quickly after they return.

Sutherland Foundation Report

The Sutherland Foundation will have their website up and running by next month.

Committee Reports

Book fair
-The book fair made over $3,000 in Scholastic dollars.
-The committee will be working with Mrs. Bansley and the Library Committee to purchase new books and carts for the school.
-We will attempt to get the upper grades more involved during the spring fair.
Holiday Gift Shop
Karen Lux was thrilled with this year's event. They do not have the final numbers but it appears as if they made around $500.

Ongoing Business

Terese Cleary discussed the new bylaws. A motion to approve the bylaws was moved, seconded and approved with no "nays".

New Business

There will be a vote in January to approve the Standing Rules. They can be viewed on the Sutherland website.
