PTA Minutes February 8, 2011

Meeting called to order at 9:07am.

A motion to approve January's minutes was moved, seconded and approved.

Treasurer's Report
The February 2011 treasurer's report was approved.

Corresponding Secretaries' Report
-Ms. Casey's request for $104.85 for an 8-station junction box and book boxes was approved.
-Mrs. Boyd requested $151.70 for Bill Nye DVDs. Her request will be processed.

Principal's Report
-School will be in session on Friday Feb. 11th to make up on of the snow days.
-Isats will be given Feb. 28-March 11th.
-There will be a pizza party on March 11th to celebrate the completion of the Isats.
-Field trips that were cancelled due to the blizzard will be made up.
-The teachers are finding the new reading program to be very successful.

Sutherland Foundation Report
-A fund raiser to take place at Francesca's restaurant in Oak Lawn is being planned for sometime in February.
-The foundation's web site should be up and running soon.

Committee Reports

Boxtops Contest
Please encourage students to continue collecting boxtops.

7th & 8th Grade Socials
-Socials are being planned for the end of March.
-The socials will be held on a Friday night and will be two hours long.
-Music, snacks and games will be provided.
-The Social committee is looking for volunteers.

Pot Luck Dinner
-3rd annual Fat Tuesday pot luck will take place on Tuesday March 8th.
-The committee is looking for entertainment. Possibilities include Jazz Band or French students.

Mother/Son Hockey Outing
-Invites for the hockey outing will go out next week.
-The outing will take place on March 26th.

Mother/Daughter Tea
-The tea will take place at Smith Village on April 9th.
-There will be two seatings--the first at 11am and the second at 2pm.
-THey will be serving finger sandwiches, tea, lemonade and small desserts.
-Invites will go out soon.

Mens Club
-On Feb. 19th the Mens Club will be attending a performance  of the Aphrodisiacs at the Beverly Arts Center.
-On March 18th they will be holding their Texas Hold 'em event
-There will be a Bulls game on April 7th.
-Couple bowling will be held on May 21st.
-The next Mens Club meeting will be held on March 10th.

Wax Museum
-Preparations for the Wax Museum are underway.
-It will be held on April 30th.
-There will be a French banquet held for 8th & 7th graders. You must pay for the banquet in advance.

Guest Speaker
Mike Ehlers gave a very interesting presentation about Study Island. He demonstrated how to sign up for and use Study Island. He also explained how frequent use of the program will benefit your child and their overall performance at school.

Reminders
The next meeting will be held during the Pot Luck Dinner on Tuesday March 8th at 7pm.
